Reverend Elmer Rogers, was born in Dallas, TX to James and Velietta Rogers. He accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Avenue Progressive Baptist Church where he began being groomed and shaped to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and remained actively involved until moving on to serve in the United States Marine Corps until being honorably discharged.
After accepting his call into the ministry in December 2002, Rev. Rogers served as an associate minister at the Avenue Progressive Baptist Church and Greater Golden Gate Missionary Baptist Church. On Dec. 31, 2008, he returned to Avenue Progressive Baptist Church as Interim-Pastor, and was later installed as Pastor on May 22, 2011.
Upon accepting the call to ministry, he went on and attended Southern Bible Institute (SBI), then Criswell Bible College, and returned to SBI receiving a B.A. in Biblical studies.
After God opened doors in the life of Rev. Elmer Rogers leading him to Tyler, TX, he was chosen as Pastor of the New Generation Baptist Church on September 22, 2013.
Reverend Elmer Rogers is married to Sis. LaTosha "Che' " Rogers; together they have five children: Mechalyne, Ragene, Favian, Meekael, and Tomiya.
